Club Teams
COMMITMENT
For players in grades 9-12, commitment to the program, the practices and the tournaments is especially IMPERATIVE. For those in the National program, it is non-negotiable. By this age, all involved should understand the level of commitment and effort it takes to compete at a high level.
For players in grades 6-8, choosing to compete at the National level means you will be committed to your Red Storm team and you will work with your coaches to miss as few practices as possible surrounding middle school volleyball or other sports. This will be true for Elite and Regional players as well but the tournament schedules for these levels are more conducive to playing multiple sports. It is unacceptable to accept a position on a team knowing you will be missing practices and tournaments.
For players in grade 5 and below, we definitely want to teach commitment but also understand they are still figuring out what sport(s) they want to play. We want to encourage them through this process while still maintaining the competitiveness and integrity of the Red Storm program.
National
Our National program is for players who want to play volleyball at the highest level and are 100% committed to the sport which includes training on and off the court, a genuine commitment to being at all practices and tournaments, and a willingness to learn and be challenged.. They must be committed to practicing 3 times a week and play in 8-11 tournaments throughout the season beginning practice in December and finishing tournament play in June or early July. If you play another sport, volleyball MUST be your first priority, especially once you reach the 14s age level. Commitment to all tournaments is required barring anything unforeseen.
Elite
Our Elite program is for players who want to play volleyball at a high level and are committed to the time, effort and commitment it takes to do so.. They must be committed to practicing 3 times a week and play in 8-10 tournaments throughout the season beginning practice in December and finishing tournament play in June depending on which age level (please refer to the tentative tournament schedule). The Elite tournament schedule is a hybrid of our Regional and National schedules and will consist of some local tournaments (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette) and some tournaments requiring more significant travel. If you play another sport, volleyball should be your first priority.
Regional
Our Regional program is for players who are looking to gain more experience on the volleyball court. They will practice twice a week on non-tournament weeks. Regional teams play in tournaments that are more local -Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans and surrounding areas. Some of these tournaments will be one day tournaments with 10s - 14s generally playing on Saturdays and some of the tournaments will be two day tournaments where they will be guaranteed to play on both Saturday and Sunday. We understand that at this age young athletes are still trying to figure out which sports they want to invest their time into and are willing to work with other sports schedules regarding practices. We do ask that you make a commitment to the tournament schedule.
Teams will have 10-11 players which will provide depth in the event of an injury and competition for positions. Players will be asked to participate in healthy competition at every practice and match to EARN playing time. Just being asked to be a part of a particular team does not guarantee playing time.
